This tiny peninsula at the top of Italy’s boot is part of Puglia (Apulia), a region as diverse in geography as it is in culture. The heart of the region includes Italy’s largest national park and theUmbraForest which cascades down toward the limestone cliffs of theAdriatic Sea. Part of Vico del Gargano, on the coast road between Peschici and Rodi Garganico, San Menaio is first among seaside tourist destinations on the Gargano.

Several lookout towers, built to watch out for incursions, mainly Saracen, remain in fairly well preserved state; in particular the towers of Monte Pucci and of Preposti.
